A cabinet alarm is a security system that alerts you when a door, window, cupboard, or cabinet is opened. It can help protect valuable items, confidential information, medication, tools, or other sensitive contents from unauthorised access.

A cabinet alarm can be used in many different situations. For example, it can monitor an office cabinet containing confidential documents, a storage cupboard containing valuable equipment, or a medicine cabinet where access needs to be restricted. At home, it can provide a discreet way to detect when children open a liquor cabinet or another cupboard they should not access.

A magnetic contact consists of two parts that are fitted close together when the door, window, or cabinet is closed. When the door or window opens, the two parts separate, changing the contact state and triggering the alarm system.

How the Mobeye Cabinet Alarm Works

For a simple cabinet, door, or window alarm, the Mobeye CM-Guard CM4000 can be combined with a magnetic contact to provide reliable 4G alarm notifications when an opening is detected.

The Mobeye CM-Guard CM4000 is a compact and flexible 4G alarm dialler with two potential-free inputs for connecting external sensors and switches. It operates on batteries for extended periods and can monitor normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) contacts. When a connected magnetic contact is triggered, the CM4000 sends an alarm notification via the Mobeye App, SMS text message, or phone call.

The compact magnetic contact can be installed discreetly inside a cabinet or fitted to a door or window. When the opening is detected, the CM4000 immediately sends an alarm notification to the configured contacts.

The Mobeye Cabinet Alarm is suitable for a wide range of applications. Use it as a liquor cabinet alarm, kitchen cupboard alarm, office cabinet alarm, or for monitoring other doors, windows, cupboards, and cabinets at home or at work.

How to Install Your Cabinet Alarm

Installing a Mobeye cabinet, door, or window alarm requires only a few simple steps:

• Insert the SIM card and batteries into the CM4000.
• Connect the magnetic contact wires to the input.
• Mount the two parts of the magnetic contact on the door or window and its frame, or on the cabinet door and cabinet.
• Make sure the two parts are correctly aligned and close together when the door or cabinet is closed.
• Configure at least one alarm contact using the device’s configuration procedure.

You can use a standard SIM card from your preferred mobile network provider. Alternatively, the Mobeye SIM card provides access to the Mobeye Portal and additional remote management features.

Once configured, the system sends an SMS text message, phone call, and/or app notification when the monitored door, window, or cabinet is opened. You can also configure specific alarm schedules, for example to monitor an office cabinet outside working hours or a storage area overnight and at weekends.
